WHAT IS THE BEST TIME TO GET MARRIED IN the isle of skye?

Summer

The beauty of warmer temperatures

The Isle of Sky has absolutely stunning locations for outdoor weddings, but the weather is usually temperamental at best.

Though you will have mild weather during summer, with late July as the warmest time of the year, it can still change without warning, and it can even snow during summer.

It is best to have a plan B if high winds and high rain will put a damper on your big day.

An outdoor location such as a garden next to a castle with indoor venues guarantees you a smooth wedding no matter what.

Winter

Couple Walking in the Icelandic Snow

THE BEAUTY OF piercing temperatures

The temperature during winter is almost close to zero, and colder temperatures feel piercing with high winds.

The chances of rainy or snowy days are pretty high during winter.

January´s average wind speed of around 17.8 knots feels like a fresh breeze. The wind speed is at its highest during early December.

All in all, these cold temperatures and freezing winds might not be ideal for an outdoor wedding but can make your indoor wedding next to a warm fireplace feel even more cozy.

SPRING & AUTUMN

THE BEAUTY OF THE INBETWEEN

Tourism is relatively slow during these months due to cold and humid weather. If you would like to get married at these times, you will likely find them the least expensive months.

Spring usually feels moderately cold, and fall is quite chilly with lots of rain or snow.

If you plan on a cozy indoor wedding and looking for reasonably priced venues, then these seasons might be perfect for you.

Have a Backup

01

When you plan your wedding in the Isle of Skye, never be too set in your ideas. The weather conditions can change quite fast and can be unpredictable. If you plan on exchanging vows on the edge of Loch Coruisk and the winds are too high, the boats won´t be able to get you there. When something like this happens, you can easily book one of the village halls around the island as a second option. Or you simply book a venue with outdoor and indoor options, such as a Castle with beautiful gardens.

How much does it cost to get married in the isle of skye?

One of the most asked questions by couples that are planning their wedding in the isle of skye is the costs!

There really is no honest answer to that as it also depends on what your wedding should look like?

The right question should be how much you really want to spend to make your wedding unforgettable.

No matter what your answer is, the Isle of Skye will make your wedding truly magical.

Book your accommodation early

02

Skye is a popular tourist location, especially during summer. Make sure to book your and your guest's accommodation as early as you can. Most wedding venues are pretty busy as well and also need to be reserved early.

Respect the trespassing signs

03

Scotland doesn´t have any trespassing laws, which basically means that you can get married where ever you like. While they are pretty easygoing with trespassing, there are still some in place, so if you see any signs, you should ask the landowner for permission to get married on their land. Usually, it will be totally fine, but it's best to double-check for a smooth ceremony.

Do you have questions about the costs for wedding photography?

Have an amazing time

04

This one seems obvious but has to be on our list. You are getting married abroad, there is lots of wedding organization and preparation for visas and documents. It is easy to get stressed and lose sight of the big picture. So, make sure to get some time for yourselves and enjoy Skye´s breathtaking scenery and the unique destination you chose to get married at.
