Can you legally get married in Morocco?

A wedding couple is getting married in Morocco.

GETTING MARRIED IN Morocco AS A NON-NATIONAL CAN BE quite simple or long and tedious, depending on your nationality.

For a non-nationals, we recommend to seek information from your embassy or consulate as well as the Moroccan authorities.

Other important facts to note:

01

consider getting legally married in your country, and then CELEBRATE the marriage in Morocco, if your nationality makes it hard to get married in Morocco

02

Same sex weddings are illegal. IN that case, we advice to plan your wedding in some other country where same-sex marriages are considered legal

obtaining a certificate of legal capacity to marry is essential, regardless of your nationality

03

You and your future spouse might be interviewed to determine the nature of your weeding

04

THese Documents need to be copied three times, stamped and signed by the local prefecture and translated: Birth certificate, Residence certificate Certificate proving you are not already married /divorce decree, national identity card and a passport size photo, Medical check (certificat prenuptial)

05

And the most important thing that you need would be a photographer that captures the beauty of your wedding or elopement in Morocco.

WHAT IS THE BEST TIME TO GET MARRIED IN Morocco?

LAte Spring To Early Autumn

Destination Wedding Photographer

The Beauty of the warm seasons

Morocco usually remains sunny almost all year round. The subtropical climate is perfect for a wedding if you love moderate weather with Atlantic and Mediterranean breezes.

The hot season lasts from the end of June to early September, with daily temperatures around 30°C. Thus, the best and most popular months to have a wedding are May, June, September, and October.

During these months you will have lovely and warm temperatures, perfect for an outdoor wedding.

Late Autumn to Early spring

The Beauty of the cool seasons

The months between late autumn and early spring will still please you with temperatures around 20°C. If you love cooler temperatures, this time of the year is perfect for you.

I recommend getting an indoor venue from November to March. These months usually have the most rain throughout the year.

The weather generally varies a bit throughout the country. In the inland as well as in the south, it usually gets more extreme and close to the Sahara. It is scorching in summer and surprisingly cold in winter.
