THE HARD TRUTH: SEO
DOESN’T ALWAYS WORK INSTANTLY ESPECIALLY IN THE WEDDING INDUSTRY

Let’s face it head-on: SEO is not a magic wand. It’s a common misconception that just by implementing a few SEO strategies, success will follow overnight.

This is far from the truth. There are times, despite doing everything by the book, SEO just doesn’t yield the results you expect – at least not immediately. It’s a game of patience, consistent effort, and yes, a bit of luck.

I’ve been there. I’ve applied all the ‘guaranteed’ tactics and still found myself waiting, sometimes for months, to see any significant impact. It’s crucial to understand that SEO is a marathon, not a sprint.

Anyone promising instant results is not giving you the whole picture. It requires dedication, ongoing learning, and a willingness to adapt to the ever-changing landscape of search engines.

PROVEN SEO SUCCESS: A JOURNEY THROUGH MY PORTFOLIO AND THE IMPACTFUL NUMBERS BEHIND IT

a couple swimming in the water and laughing next to bora bora

After addressing the realities of SEO, I want to share my personal journey to illustrate its potential when combined with patience and strategy. Over the past decade, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to photograph weddings in over 32 different countries. Each location brought unique challenges and learnings, all contributing to my growth as a photographer and a marketer.

You don’t have to take my word for it – I invite you to explore my portfolio and especially my Instagram. There, you’ll find a visual journey through the countless locations, countries, and cities where my camera and SEO skills have taken me. From the serene beaches of French Polynesia to the vibrant streets of India, each photograph is a testament to the power of combining art with digital marketing savvy.

Now, let’s talk numbers. The proof, as they say, is in the pudding – or in this case, in the traffic stats. These numbers aren’t just figures; they represent real people from around the globe who connected with my work through search engines. Here’s a glimpse into my website traffic over the past few years…

Screenshot of stats from the Ahrefs website

The screenshot above offers a glimpse into my website’s current traffic stats as of December 2023, the time when I’m penning down these insights for you. What’s particularly interesting is that my content is crafted in two languages: English, to resonate with a global audience, and German, to connect with my local clientele in Germany. This strategic approach allows me to cast a wide yet targeted net across different demographics.

As you observe the robust traffic flowing in weekly, you’ll notice my focused effort on a blog post about Japan. Why Japan, you might ask? It remains a dream destination on my bucket list, a place I am eager to explore and capture through my lens. By targeting specific locations like this, I not only follow my passion but also strategically attract clients who resonate with these dream locales.

WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY SEO – HANDS ON EXAMPLE

Now, let me take you through a hands-on example that truly encapsulates the essence of what SEO can achieve, regardless of geographic boundaries. A few years ago, I set my sights on Bora Bora in French Polynesia – a stunningly remote location, literally on the opposite side of the world from where I reside in Germany.

I crafted a detailed blog post about Bora Bora, embedding my passion for this mesmerizing destination into every word and image. The goal was clear: to reach out to potential clients who dreamt of a wedding in this paradise, just as I dreamt of photographing one there. And guess what? It worked. Not only did this post attract inquiries from couples planning their big day in Bora Bora, but it also led to me shooting a wedding there last year.

This experience is a testament to the boundary-eliminating power of SEO. With the right approach, you can target and connect with anyone, anywhere in the world, for any location. It’s about transcending physical distances and reaching the hearts of those who share your vision – and that’s the true magic of SEO in destination wedding photography. But how the hell am I doing it?

KEYWORD RESEARCH – THE FOUNDATION OF YOUR SEO SUCCESS

Let’s dive into the cornerstone of my SEO strategy: keyword research. This initial step is like laying the groundwork for a building – without it, the structure simply won’t stand. To navigate this crucial phase, I rely on a powerful tool called Ahrefs. It’s my compass in the vast sea of SEO, guiding me towards keywords that strike the perfect balance between low competition and high search volume.

Why is this balance essential?

Because targeting the right keywords is the key to being seen in the right places by the right people. With Ahrefs, I uncover those hidden gems – terms that are easy to rank for yet widely searched. This approach allows me to efficiently pinpoint not only what words to use but also what locations to focus on.

It’s about being strategic in your choices, ensuring that the effort you put into SEO translates into tangible results. After all, understanding the potential to rank for specific keywords is the first step in crafting content that resonates and reaches your desired audience.

You need to find the balance between search volume and keyword difficulty. You can not target the main competitive keywords in Wedding Photography SEO especially if you are just starting!

ALIGNING WITH GOOGLE’S HELPFUL CONTENT UPDATE: A NEW SEO STRATEGY IN WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

Harnessing the Potential of Visual SEO: Practical Tips for Your Website

Visual SEO is an often-overlooked but critical component of your overall SEO strategy. Let’s dive into some key aspects that can make a real difference in how your website performs in search rankings.

Implementing these Visual SEO tips can greatly enhance your website’s appeal to both users and search engines. While these are just the basics, mastering them can set a solid foundation for your website’s SEO strategy

HOW TO USE ALT TEXT?

The purpose of alt text is twofold: accessibility and SEO. It helps visually impaired users understand what an image is about and also provides context to search engines. When writing alt text, the goal is to be descriptive and accurate, rather than just stuffing keywords.

Describe what’s actually in the image in a natural, concise way. For instance, instead of using a generic alt text like “wedding photo,” a more descriptive text could be “couple exchanging vows in a beachside wedding in Bora Bora.

DO NOT USE JPG!

The WebP format is becoming increasingly important in the digital world. This modern image format provides superior compression and quality characteristics compared to older formats like JPEG.

By using WebP, you can significantly reduce the file size of your images without compromising their visual quality, leading to faster loading times and a better user experience – both of which are crucial SEO factors.

SIZE MATTERS!

It’s crucial to strike a balance between high-quality visuals and optimal loading speed. Large, high-resolution images can slow down your page load times, negatively impacting user experience and SEO.

Aim to resize and compress your images to the smallest possible size while maintaining good quality. Tools like Adobe Photoshop or online compressors can help you achieve this balance.

DID YOU KNOW thAT?

The crucial impact of mobile-first indexing on your SEO

Did you know? Google has shifted gears to mobile-first indexing! This means the search giant now primarily uses the mobile version of your website for indexing and ranking. If this is news to you, it’s time to take a hard look at your mobile site’s performance – because it’s dictating your position in Google’s search results.

Mobile-first indexing is not just a trend; it’s a reflection of how user behavior has evolved. With the majority of internet users accessing websites via mobile devices, Google’s approach ensures that search results align with this reality. If your website isn’t optimized for mobile, you’re not just missing out on a huge audience; you’re potentially jeopardizing your search rankings.

How does your site perform on a smartphone? Is it as seamless and user-friendly as the desktop version? Consider factors like loading speed, ease of navigation, readability, and interactive elements. Remember, a mobile-friendly site is no longer a luxury, but a necessity. It’s time to bring your A-game to mobile SEO. This isn’t just about staying ahead; it’s about not being left behind.
