Fujisan Winery Wedding
in Japan
Seb and Ikkyu · April 2026 · At the foot of Mount Fuji

I don’t know if I have ever been this excited to share something! Japan was the country I wanted to go to so badly for a wedding, and I finally did it.
This is Seb and Ikkyu’s wedding at the foot of Mount Fuji, in the golden grass of the Asagiri Highlands. The ceremony took place in front of a wall of draped fabric with Fuji rising behind it, and the day ended with dinner at long tables in the field, with music, toasts and blankets as the evening cooled down.
Big thanks to my friend Ku Nakagawa for making this happen and for being my companion on a trip I will never forget, to the entire team, and to this amazing venue.

Questions couples ask
Where is Fujisan Winery and how do you get there?
At 498 Nebara in Fujinomiya, Shizuoka, in the Asagiri Highlands. From Tokyo it is about 70 minutes by Shinkansen to Shin-Fuji and then a drive into the highlands. By car, the Fuji exit of the Tomei Expressway is about 45 minutes away and the Kawaguchiko exit about 40 minutes.
Can you get married at Fujisan Winery?
Yes. The winery has no published wedding packages, but it hosts private events, and Seb and Ikkyu’s wedding took place right there, with Fuji behind the ceremony. Reach out to the winery through the contact form on its website.
When is Mount Fuji most visible?
A 35-year record from Fuji City shows the clearest mornings from November to February, with Fuji fully visible on about 60 percent of January mornings. Visibility is lowest from June to August, and spring haze brings it down to about 36 percent of April mornings.
What is the weather like in April?
The vineyard sits at 900 metres and is cooler than Tokyo. Nearby Kawaguchiko averages a high of 16 °C and a low of 4 °C in April, so bring layers for the evening.
Is a ceremony at the winery legally binding?
No. In Japan a marriage only takes effect once it is registered under the Family Register Act, so a ceremony at the venue is symbolic. Foreign couples should check the legal side with their embassy.
Can guests visit the winery?
Yes. Café Shizen is open daily from 10:00 to 16:00 with the winery’s own wines, and the winery runs a guided tour with a vineyard walk, a tasting of five wines and lunch.

About Fujisan Winery
Fujisan Winery calls itself the winery closest to Mount Fuji. It sits in the Asagiri Highlands above Fujinomiya, where founder Ernest Singer planted Koshu vines in 2007 to make world-class Japanese wine, and in 2024 it opened Café Shizen, with Fuji right in front of it.
For a wedding, it’s the landscape that does the work: open fields of golden grass, the arched steel winery buildings and, on a clear day, Fuji filling the sky.
