Celebrate your journey to the big day

Lukas Piatek · New York City
Ever since I first visited New York, I’ve had a deep connection with the city.
I’m Lukas, a wedding and elopement photographer. An engagement shoot is more than just a trend: it’s a unique opportunity to celebrate your relationship in the lead-up to your big day, and a chance for us to get to know each other before the wedding.

Before the wedding
Why an engagement shoot
An engagement shoot helps you get comfortable in front of the camera, which means more natural, relaxed photos on your wedding day. And it’s a beautiful way to capture your relationship at this special time.
The images can be used in all kinds of ways, from save-the-date cards to wedding decor, adding a personal touch to your celebration.
It also gives me the chance to get to know you better and understand what you like, so your story is reflected in every shot. That connection makes the shoot more comfortable and the whole experience more personal.
Engagement session
A walk through Greenwich Village
Catie and Ben’s engagement shoot took us through the Village: quiet tree-lined streets off MacDougal Street, a cobblestone mews, ivy-covered houses and a crosswalk in front of White Oak Tavern. Later I photographed their wedding at The Foundry in Long Island City.

Their wedding
Catie and Ben at The Foundry
Catie and Ben got married on a Friday evening in May, in the ivy-covered courtyard of The Foundry in Long Island City, with dinner at long tables under the Queensboro Bridge. Thanks to this shoot, we already knew each other well by the time the big day came.

Iconic spots and hidden gems
The right location can add a layer of magic to your images. Whether it’s a place full of personal memories or a stunning backdrop, the best location feels like a chapter in your story.
What I love to do is brainstorm locations with my couples and make a timeline, so we make the best of the time we have with as many different and unique locations as possible.
- Spring
- Cherry blossoms in Central Park and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, from late March into April.
- Summer
- Plenty of sunshine and warm summer nights from June to August.
- Fall
- Mild temperatures, little rain and autumn colors. September to November is less touristy, which makes photographing at iconic locations way easier.
- Winter
- Christmas decor all over the city in December, the Bryant Park Winter Village and, with a bit of luck, a blanket of snow.

Questions
Before you book
What is the first step?
We schedule a call: a relaxed, informal chat to get to know each other, talk about your ideas and answer any questions you have. Your comfort and trust are key to capturing your story authentically.
Where should we have our engagement shoot?
Wherever feels like a chapter in your story: a place full of personal memories, an iconic spot or a hidden gem. I love to brainstorm locations together with my couples and make a timeline, so we make the best of the time we have with as many different and unique locations as possible.
What can we use the photos for?
Anything you like, from save-the-date cards to wedding decor. And the shoot helps you get comfortable in front of the camera, which means more natural, relaxed photos on your wedding day.
When is the best time of year?
Every season works. Spring brings the cherry blossoms, summer long sunny evenings, fall mild weather and fewer tourists, and December the Christmas lights. Just keep in mind that it can rain up to 8 days a month, so we keep a plan B.
Can we add an engagement shoot to our wedding?
Yes, and then it’s half the price: from $1,000 instead of $2,000. The engagement shoot is one of the add-ons to my wedding photography packages, next to a second shooter, an artbook and a cinematic film.
How much does an engagement shoot cost?
Engagement shoots start at $2,000, or $1,000 when you book one together with your wedding. The final price depends on the location and the time we spend together, so it’s worth thinking about outfit changes and anything else you’d like for the shoot when we plan it.
